AXL Affiliates also reported a strong sales pipeline even if the company switched to socially responsible ads, which serve ambitious B2B and DTC companies respectively. To support and drive this growth further, the company made several key hires at senior levels in the first part of 2021.
“We concluded first half of 2021 with a major growth across the board, aided by a recovery in international advertising and a surge in sport events, as well as further good work on the expense side,” Chief Executive Charlene Sciberras said. “We have begun to invest again in our platform, and, with one of the strongest balance sheet in the industry, we are positioned well to benefit as the advertising market recovers further.”
As a group, AXL proved very resilient through the COVID period. The six ad networks that were part of AXL for the full year delivered flat year-on-year gross profit and EBITDA on a like-for-like basis, as did the overall enlarged group.
Areas of investment planned for AXL AFFILIATES in 2021 includes further growth in the US and Asia markets. AXL Affiliates is also set to move into a new London HQ in December. The office, based in Canary Wharf, will house 20 employees from different departments under one roof, and will offer a collaborative, flexible creative space perfectly equipped for the changing nature of work post-Covid.
